SESSION OVERVIEWS

We pride ourselves on being a conference that shares a treasure trove of strategies, frameworks, and actionable insights that attendees can immediately implement to achieve greater impact, and your work is vital in making this a reality.

EFG attendees span different issue and cause areasfrom hunger to DEI, animal rights to education, and everything in betweenwhich is why we ask speakers to share learnings, frameworks, and key takeaways that can be applied to other organizations, regardless of cause area. A strong emphasis should be placed on your process–as opposed to just results–to demonstrate how your success and learnings can be replicated by others. Providing tangible resources, such as worksheets or sample materials, is encouraged.

*All sessions will include an EFG2024-branded slide deck and at least three key takeaways (unless otherwise discussed with the EFG team). Session leaders will submit a draft slide deck before content calls, which start April 8. Meredith will send session leaders an email about content call & slide deck prep in early April.*

Breakout Sessions

Breakouts are 45 minutes long, include Q&A, and must be well choreographed to deliver insights that attendees can leverage in their work, regardless of their cause area.

We strongly advise that you include an interactive (show of hands, poll, etc.) or discussion component into your session, and we will be looking for directions for that activity in your presentation.

Keynote Sessions

Keynote sessions should be inspirational and provide inside knowledge, lessons learned and/or timely data.

We will coordinate an on-site A/V run-through with you prior to your keynote address to ensure all looks as you expect and so that you may familiarize yourself with the set-up.

Pre-Conference Summits

You will work closely with us and the summit leaders to create content that blends well with the closed door, collegial nature of these gatherings.

Workshop Sessions

Workshop sessions should provide in-depth, hands-on learning with concrete takeaways for attendees.

Workshop are 1 hour and 45 minutes and are positioned as a working lunch. Your session should include ample time for small group discussion among peers, table work, and potential report-outs to the group.

PRESENTATIONS

Templates
The conference presentation template is available for download via Dropbox

Submitting your Presentations
Presentations are due Wednesday, April 24. Please clearly name your presentation (Speaker/ Company – Session Title) and upload to the “EFG2024 Speaker Decks” Dropbox folder.

Are You Planning To Use Video?
If you plan to use videos, you’ll need to embed your videos into your slide deck. Recommended formats are .avi, .mp4 or .mov. Sorry, no internet video will be permitted due to low quality and buffering challenges. If you are a main stage speaker, we’ll require the video file in addition to having it embedded in your deck.

EFG’S SIX KEY TIPS FOR ENSURING YOUR PRESENTATION IS A SUCCESS

  1. Incorporate the feedback we discussed into your presentation and ensure that your content is clear, concise, and aligned with the session description and key takeaways we outlined together.
  2. Ensure your session is cause-agnostic, meaning it will be valuable to attendees regardless of their specific cause area. Your cause(s) can be examples, but the session should be broad enough that the best practice and key takeaways are helpful regardless of whether an attendee’s cause area is education, veterans, LGBTQ+, or something else.
  3. Share the “how.” Don’t just share *that* you did something; share how you did it, including successes and challenges you experienced along the way so attendees can replicate parts of your processes & success.
  4. Engage your audience – use polls, encourage raised hands, and facilitate Q&A. Engage them within the first five minutes and link that engagement to the session’s topic.
  5. While it’s important to share about your organization, keep it brief – think of it as an elevator pitch. The majority of your presentation should focus on the topic we discussed, trends, best practices, lessons learned, and practical insights.
  6. The dress code for this year’s conference is business casual. For The Halos Gala, we recommend formal attire—think gowns, cocktail dresses, and suites. We hope you show up in something that makes you feel comfortable, confident, and, most importantly, fabulous!

PROMOTIONAL GRAPHICS

We’d love for you to share the news that you’re a speaker. We’ve put together a plethora of resources in the Speakers Share Toolkit | EFG2024.”

The toolkit gives you access to:

  • A discount code to share with your community
  • Ready-to-go graphics

WHOVA APP

The Whova App is your hub to connect with other attendees, interact with community boards, and explore all EFG2024 has to offer.

Update your Whova profile:

  1. Download the Whova app.
  2. Click on your profile and edit your bio and photo if needed. If there is anything not editable but you want to edit, please contact Linda who can make the changes for you.
  3. Click Save once everything is done.
  4. You can come back to update info whenever needed.

Access live Q&A during your session:
This year, EFG2024 Attendees will be able to submit questions via the Whova app. This is a great way to keep the flow of your presentation going without accepting questions in the middle of your session. This also means you’ll have the ability to answer questions or follow up with attendees after your presentation.

To get to the Q&A:

  1. Tap “Questions” from “My Audience” under “Speaker Hub.”
  2. You will see the list of sessions that you speak in. Tap the one you want to check.
  3. The session shows all the questions asked by the audience, arranged in order by the number of votes for each question.
  4. If it is during the live session, you may answer the questions directly.
  5. If it is before or after the live session, you can tap onto the question and answer it in the app.
